Household Hints!
Though I've read in many places that the best thing to do to get rid of bloodstains is to run the stained material through cold water, I find that very, very hot tap water works best.

Rinse the blood-stained cloth with water as hot as you can get it from the tap. Then rub the stained spot with directly with bar soap. Rinse with the hot tap water again. The stain should, at best, be completely gone. You may have a faint yellow mark where the bloodstain once was if the bloodstain was not quite fresh. If the stain is old, it will take some extra time to clean out and you will probably still be left with a faint brown mark where the stain was. Once you've done as much as you can in your sink, you should immediately launder the item to remove the remainder of the stain. Now that nasty bloodstain is all gone!
