This is not actually important news to anyone but Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans, and that particular group probably already knows about this, but I thought I'd quote SciFiWire here, anyway:

Interesting cast signed up for a sequel to the very good Pitch Black.
A reference in the news briefs to an Ain't It Cool News piece which revealed that the guy who played Mickey Mantle so very well in the HBO film 61* is going to be The Punisher in the upcoming film of the same name.
In the why-god-why? file, Edward Furlong is getting prepped for his role in yet another crap-ass Crow sequel.
An idea was bandied about a couple of months back that UPN was going to dump Buffy's ass, anyway, no matter what SMG decided.
And, finally, in the laugh-your-ass-off rumor pile, there's this piece about David Boreanaz, our soul-full Angel, signing up to play Superman in the film currently struggling through development. Come, laugh with me. BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA! Those Brits are so damned gullible.
Here's a nice thing Buffy fans can do: Nicholas Brendon, a stutterer himself, is chairman of the Stuttering Foundation of America's Stuttering Awareness Week. Okay, so this reads a bit like a joke, but James Earl Jones is a stutterer, too, so you'd best not be mocking the Voice of Darth Vader. Anyway, apparently Xander fans are trying to raise funds for the foundation in honor of Brendon's birthday on April 12th as well as to thank him for seven years of Xandery fun and goodness.
Or, if you don't like Xander in particular, but are a big, honkin' Buffy fan, you may wish to check out the Buffy Thank You site.
Final Buffy Eps Slated
UPN will wrap up Buffy the Vampire Slayer with five new episodes, starting April 15, featuring the return of former series regulars David Boreanaz (Angel) and Eliza Dushku (Faith) and guest star Nathan Fillion (Firefly). Subsequent episodes will air April 29, May 6 and May 13, with the series finale on May 20.
This five-episode story arc will pit Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) against her most insidious and evil opponent ever, Caleb (Fillion), a depraved operative of the First. A final battle to the death will decide whether good or evil will prevail on Earth.
